I've been trying to do more figurative work lately as I've been spending allot of time designing environments for work. My beautiful girlfriend was kind enough to pose for me last night.
Was fortunate enough to get out to the Olympic Coast this weekend and did a few little 5x7 plein air paintings. I plan on doing allot of gouache painting this summer and I promise it all wont be so smack-dab in the middle of my comfort zone. :)
More updates soon.
This was a really great week for plein air adventures. On Saturday morning I met up with some friends and went down to a beach in west Seattle and painted for an hour or so. On Sunday I left for a backpacking trip to the Enchantments. We camped at an incredible spot called Lake Stuart, thankfully I found some time to do a couple quick Gouache studies. Now off to a great 4th of July weekend!
Went out with some friends this weekend to do some plein air painting. I recently challenged myself to learn how to paint with Gouache - it's a new medium for me. I love how fast it is, but I generally paint way too saturated with it.
This is a little 5x7 study I did of Mt. Rainier yesterday with a little post Photoshop post to fix the color correction from when I took a photo of it with my phone.
I finally made an ArtStation account. So many awesome artists. If you're on there, make sure to let me know so I can check out your work!
It's getting that time again in Seattle where the winter is lifting its foot off of our throats and it's time to get painting out doors again! These are some digital studies from photos that I did in preparation for doing some traditional plein air paintings.
